Busy Businessman Story

Busy Businessman Story

This is a story presented as an old style comic book.

A Busy Businessman and a Happy Businessman Slide
John is a busy businessman and is meeting Tom a client
John is startled when his phone starts ringing. He apologises and asks if it is alright if he answers his phone.
Tom is obviously not happy as the meeting has just started and John's phone starts ringing
Even though not really happy Tom says 'Sure go ahead'
At the other end of the phone it is Amy.
Amy is wondering if John has re-scheduled the meeting
John says 'Good morning Amy! Sorry, but I am in a meeting now.'
John asks 'Can we meet in 20 minutes please?'
Amy is annoyed and firmly says "I'm afraid not. You'll have to reschedule the meeting"
Amy continues and says "May have been possible if only you had phoned me earlier"
Amy is annoyed and says "We have been waiting for over an hour for you."
John says "Oh so sorry!". John was annoyed that his phone rang during a meeting and his annoyance came through in his response. But it is actually John who is at fault here.
John says "I forgot to check my diary"
Now what opinion will Tom have about John? Tom is thinking "Don't tell me he has bungled up his appointments!".
What impression will this leave on Amy? She is annoyed that her time has been wasted.
Amy wonders if John handles all customers in the same disorganised way.
John says "Sorry Tom, apparently I am starting another hectic day."
Tom says "John, can we quickly go through the document you promised delivery today?"
Tom points out that this meeting is already running late.
John says 'I printed it yesterday, but seem to have misplaced it'
Tom points out that they need input from their Engineering and Marketing Departments for the document.
Tom points out: "It would be difficult if we only have a printed copy."
Tom points out that they expected the document yesterday.
John says "Terribly sorry; I wanted to go over it with you before I emailed it to you."
John asks "Can I send it as an attachment to an email please?"
Tom is thinking "So what are we doing here then?" because John isn't delivering the document and is also late for the meeting.
Tom says "Alright John, for now I'll let you email it by afternoon. But remember it is already late."
John says "Thank you. I'll email it as soon as I reach my office. Have a good day Tom".
Tom is unhappy that John turned up late for the meeting but then had completely forgotten about another meeting.
Tom thinks that "John hasn't delivered what was expected yesterday. Not at all reliable."
Having apologised twice within a short period of time, John comes out of the meeting in a bad shape and is thinking "Not even mid-morning and already a terrible day"
John's phone rings again and this time it is his wife Sarah.
John says "Oh! Sarah darling!"
Sarah is concerned "John, have you forgotten it's our daughter's birthday today?"
John says "No I haven't. Did I order the cake? I think I did."
Sarah says "John you always forget the most important things in the world!".
Sarah says "Are you sure you ordered the cake? I'll kill you if you didn't"
Sarah asks "Anyway, did you deliver the document to Tom?"
Sarah says "It was on your table last night and I put it in your briefcase, thinking you would forget it otherwise."
John says "Oh NO! I searched all over my table this morning but couldn't find it!"
Sarah says "So you didn't deliver it though it was in your brief case?"
John says "I didn't expect it to be in my brief case because I didn't put it myself!"
Sarah says "Honey! Sometimes you are so silly! I think I better check with bakers about the cake."
John says "What a terrible day!"
Sarah says "Don't take it too hard on yourself John! Take care. See you later. Love you. Bye!"
